Viitiligo is an autoimmune disease that causes loss of skin color in patches. The discolored areas usually get bigger with time. Vitiligo occurs due to loss of melanin content in the skin. Vitiligo can affect the skin on any part of the body. It can also affect hair, inside of the mouth and private parts.It is an unpredictable skin disorder. Though the exact cause is not unknown; stress, thyroid abnormalities, family history, certain chemicals are known to precipitate vitiligo.

The choice of treatment depends on patient’s age, the site and extent of skin involved, rate of disease progression and the emotional status of the patient.
Psoriasis is a chronic skin condition that presents with red, itchy, thick, scaly patches on the skin. Most common sites involved are scalp, elbows, knees, lower back. In psoriasis, the body makes new skin cells in days rather than weeks. As these cells pile up on the surface of the skin, thick, scaly patches are seen. It also affects nail. Psoriasis tends to go through cycles of flares and remission. The flaring usually occurs for a few weeks or months especially during winters or in cold climate, then subsiding for a while or going into remission.It is not contagious.
